Popular Series of Parent Cafés Coming to Rochelle (A Series of 3 Empowering, Learning Experiences for parents: Offered in both English and Spanish)

(Rochelle, IL) The Community That CARES Project (CTC), in partnership with the Rochelle Elementary School District and the Hub Afterschool Project, will offer a series of Parent Cafés in September, October and November at the New Lincoln Elementary School in Rochelle, 1450 20th Street.

“Parent Cafés offer parents an exciting, empowering, and supportive experience that is shared with other parents,” says Tammy Wolf, CTC Parent and Family Coordinator. “Participants are allowed to speak with no others interrupting, in a non-judgmental atmosphere, and are able to interact and learn from one another. This is not an event where we are telling parents what they should and shouldn’t do, this is an event where they learn from one another’s shared experiences.”

“CTC has offered a number of very well attended and very successful Parent Cafés in Whiteside County, and now we are bringing that benefit to parents in Ogle County,” adds Wolf.

Here is what a parent had to say after attending a café in their area: “The café was fun and exciting! It helps to know that other parents are going through the same things and that they understand my feelings without any judgment.”

Strengthening Families Illinois, who helped to develop parent cafés in Illinois, puts it this way: “Parent Cafés are a vehicle for parents to have their own conversations about keeping their families strong based on a set of Protective Factors that help to build and maintain healthy families.”

Three evening café will be offered with the following themes and on the following dates and times:

  • September 27, 2013 5:00 – 6:30 pm Take Care of Yourself
  • October 18, 2013 5:00 – 6:30 pm Be a Strong Parent
  • November 15, 2013 5:00 – 6:30 pm Build a Strong Relationship with Your Child.
